There’s just nowhere in Hong Kong for the general population to practice golf in a nice environment in areas that are comparable to most other countries.
Sure, you can take the view that it’s better than nothing, which it is, but if you live on Hong Kong Island, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anybody willing to drive at least 45 minutes to hit balls at a place that looks like Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range. Really the only place worth driving to, outdoors, is The Hong Kong Golf Club, and that’s only open weekdays (excluding public holidays) after 6p.m. Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range is probably worth going to if you live within 15-20 minutes of the place, and if you’re wanting to start up golf, it’s actually ok, you’re not really going there for the atmosphere or surroundings, but if you’re a serious golfer looking for somewhere nice to hit balls, Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range is not the place to be.
Yes, the Hong Kong Golf School gives lessons at Whitehead Club Golf Driving Range, and as mentioned, if you’re just starting to learn golf in Hong Kong, it’s fine and will more than do the trick, so don’t get too discouraged, we’re looking at this from a serious golfers perspective, as someone who likes to hit balls on a “proper” driving range. For purely hitting golf balls, this driving range in Hong Kong is fine and a suitable venue for learning to play golf in Hong Kong.
