Many of the beginners that come to take golf lessons from our Hong Kong golf coaches are eager to get out on a golf course after their initial golf tuition (usually our 10 hour beginner golf program). Unfortunately Hong Kong is not a place that is easy to play golf and it’s very near impossible without a handicap card or a few tricks up your sleeve. Really the only place to play is Nine Eagles, which is near the airport. It’s a nine hole layout with a couple of short par 4’s. Most of the holes (Par 3’s) are around 100 yards or less, a few are a bit longer. For beginners, the holes arent that easy. The 3rd hole for example is an island green surrounded by bunkers, for first time golfer in Hong Kong who’s never experienced being in a bunker, this can be quite a daunting task!. Another hole is an island green surrounded by water, whilst it’s very short, this can also be very daunting no matter how good your Hong Kong golf coach has been in giving you lessons to perfect your swing.
Getting out there is by car, taxi and you can also take the train then a shuttle bus (must call before to arrange) and getting around the course should take between 45-mins and an hour, depending on how many people you have. Check the Nine Eagles Golf Hong Kong website for specials, if you’re an HKID holder or have a Cathay Pacific American Express Csrd and a few other cards like that, you might be able to get a discount. There’s a putting green but funnily enough (actually not funny at all), there’s no driving range. Lunch is usually included in the price of your green fee so that’s a nice addition but don’t expect anything spectacular.
